Brent M. Crymes, M.D.

Dear Patients,

It is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement from Ophthalmology effective September 30, 2024.  Caring for you, my patients, has been the most rewarding part of my 34-year career with Athens Eye Doctors & Surgeons.

I have come to know many of my patients and their families as friends, and I am honored that many of you have asked me to care for two, and even three, generations.

The physicians of AEDS are excited to announce that Dr. Kyle Royalty, his wife Hannah and their newborn daughter Grace will be joining the practice full time this August, and Kyle will be taking over the care of the majority of my patients.  Dr. Royalty graduated with highest honors from the Medical College of Georgia and performed his internship in internal medicine in Augusta.  He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the prestigious Dean McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City.  I am confident that you will find him a caring and compassionate doctor and will be very pleased with his care.

It has been an extremely rewarding experience to help Athens Eye Doctors & Surgeons grow into one of the largest and most respected ophthalmology practices in the state.  It is a testament to our excellent team of physicians and staff that we are consistently recognized for our leadership in clinical and surgical eye care.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at (706) 549-9993.  I have very much enjoyed being your ophthalmologist and wish you the very best of health and good fortune in the future.

Sincerely,

Brent M. Crymes, MD
